Stress
how it effects the body: By Madeliene Painter
Everyday we are faced with stress. Work is piling up, home is hectic, the daily commute, oh and don’t forget to run those errands.
It can be a lot. As humans we are faced with more stress now than ever. And too much stress increases free radicals within the body, which can start to have negative side effects.
-
Low energy.
-
Headaches.
-
Upset stomach, including diarrhea, constipation, and nausea.
-
Aches, pains, and tense muscles.
-
Chest pain and rapid heartbeat.
-
Insomnia.
-
Frequent colds and infections.
So how do we combat stress? How do we lower free radicals?
There are a few ways we can help your body negate stress. I would start by taking a look at your daily lifestyle to see if there are improvements that can be made. Let’s start with sleep. Are you getting 7-9 hours of quality sleep? If not, go check out my other article: Mental Boosting Tips for Show Day! (Sleep hygiene)
Next, let’s talk about ways to relax and decompress from the day.
Exercise is a stress on the body but it can be one of the best ways to unwind and release any tension from the day. Reading an enjoyable book or watching a funny tv show or movie. Warm teas, meditation, ESPOM salt baths, talking with loved ones, unplugging from the internet are all ways to lower stress and help reduce stress in your body.
Lastly, let’s talk a little bit about diet. Our diet plays a huge roll in helping to lower free radicals in the body. How do we do that?
With antioxidants!
Fruits and Vegetables!
Do you get 11 servings of fruits or veggies on the daily? If not, you probably have a build up of free radicles in your body. In order to combat the free radicals in our bodies, we need to have MORE antioxidants coming in from our diet to help reduce the effects of stress.
Antioxidants are measured in units. It is estimated that men, who consume an average of about 2500 calories a day need at least 11,000 units.
Women, who eat about 1800 calories per day, should get at least 8,000 units. But today the average American is getting about 2700 units. Which is not enough to help combat the stress we are putting onto our bodies.
A great way to supplement more antioxidants into your diet is by taking Opti-Reds 50 daily. (recommended by Maleliene) Mix it with water, juice, or your daily smoothie. Just two scoops is going to add well over 11,000 units.
In addition to helping your body with stress reduction, Opti-Reds 50 will also help you: Boost energy, exercise performance, brain function, and metabolism. Increase nitric oxide and blood flow. Reduce free radical production. Promote a healthy immune system. Check it out!
