Workout for the Horse
why equestrians should train
A statement came up “my workout is my ride” and after it came a tons of excuses why the horseback rider couldn’t make time for any more activities.
This comes up a ton when speaking with riders and their need to get fit. Not all horseback riders have to lose weight or even out imbalances, but the need for getting into shape is more than both of those things. Not needing to lose weight or fix a major problem in the position, doesn’t let the rider off the hook. Riders are athletes and there’s a major benefit to working out.
Horses tend to manipulate the rider’s body in the saddle. Some lean on one side of the bit or fall to a side of the riders leg.
Anytime force is placed on the body, muscle tissue adapts and becomes stronger in that area. If this goes on for some time, a rider has a big chance of developing too much strength where the horse wants to compensate. Cross training balances out the body.
The BioRider program was designed to help muscle strengths balance-out within the horseback rider’s physique. Take the time to strengthen the body off the horse and meanwhile making sure the body is developing evenly.
