Teaching an Independent Seat
create internal balance for your core
Balance Equipment
Teach your core how to have an independent seat, while staying stable, is internal balance within the core. Equestrian balance is dependent upon the horse, after all we are riding on top of their backs. So get off the horse and do these exercises to engage the same muscles that help you balance on the horse!
Gaining stability back when you lose it in the tack will require even more core balance so using the challenging exercises like kneeling on a ball. Most horseback riders tend to regain their balance using their reins. An independent seat is not using the reins to find your balance.

You as a horseback rider will have an easier time developing an independent seat if your constantly training your core balance.
The stability ball is one of the greatest tools available for gaining an independent seat! The other tool is the BOSU ball.
